Eleni Peitsidou is a graduate of the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She trained in the specialty of General/Family Medicine at the G.H. of Thessaloniki “Ippokratio”. She received further training in Emergency Pre-hospital Medicine, Arterial Hypertension, and Neurology. She has a PhD in Neuroscience from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and specialization in Emergency Medicine. Dr Peitsidou is the Director of the Emergency Department (ED) of G.H. “G. Papanikolaou” and the Director of the Emergency Medicine Specialization Center of the same hospital. She has participated in publications, announcements, and lectures on emergency and general medicine care topics. Her research interests are related to the ED administration and operation. She has participated in European programs on mass crisis management, first aid for pesticide use, the development of 13 General Medicine Guidelines for disease management, the training of primary care physicians in primary prevention, and the training of nurses in home medical visits. She is a trainer of the National Emergency Aid Center, at the nursing school of G.H. of Thessaloniki “G. Papanikolaou” and of ERC with numerous seminars. She is the Vice President of the Hellenic Society for Emergency Medicine (HeSEM) (2025-present) and she was the General Secretary of HeSEM (2022-2025). She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Academy of General/Family and Primary Health Care and other scientific societies, a founding member of the Hellenic Council for Life Support Education, a member of several committees of the 3nd Regional Health authority for issues related to emergency medicine and the development of Emergency Departments, and a member of the Examination Committee for the specialization in Emergency Medicine.
