Nikolaos Sbyrakis

FEBEM, Surgeon - Emergency Medicine Physician, Emergency Department Director, U.G.H. of Heraklion, Greece

Nikolaos Smpyrakis, son of Stylianos and Kyriaki, was born in Chania, grew up in Athens, and graduated from the Medical School of the University of Crete in 1995. He completed his specialty training in General Surgery in 2005 and he, subsequently, relocated to Melbourne, Australia, where he trained in the specialty of Emergency Medicine. Since 2005, he has been working exclusively in Emergency Departments in hospitals in Australia, the United Kingdom, and Greece. In 2023, he was appointed Director of the Emergency Department of the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Society of Emergency Medicine, a member of EMERGE (Emergency Medicine Examinations Reference Group for Europe), and a FEBEM (Fellow of the European Board of Emergency Medicine).
