Olivia Mavromoustaki

General Surgeon, Emergency Department Director/Coordinator, G.H. of Thessaloniki "Hippokration", Greece

Dr Olivia Mavromoustaki MD, PhD, MSc, is a General Surgeon specialized in Emergency Medicine and currently serves as Director/Coordinator of the Emergency Department at Hippokration General Hospital of Thessaloniki. She has extensive clinical experience having worked for ten years in private clinics, two years at the rural clinic of Goumenissa Hospital, three and a half years at Theagenio Anticancer Hospital, and thirteen years in the Emergency Department of G.H. “Hippokration”. Her primary scientific interests focus on Emergency Medicine and Surgery and, in particular, on the organization, staffing and effective management of Emergency Departments. Dr Mavromoustaki is a certified instructor in BLS, ALS, ILS and ATLS courses in accordance with the Guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council. She has actively participated in numerous scientific sessions and conferences and has authored publications in both Greek and international peer reviewed journals. She holds a PhD from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with a doctoral thesis entitled “The effect of Tamoxifen citrate in Colonic Anastomoses. An experimental study in Rats”. She has, additionally, earned a Master’s Degree in Health Care Unit Administration from the University of Macedonia, Greece. She also committed group training in the Emergency Department. Her postgraduate training also includes continuing medical education in Breast cancer surgery, experimental Laparoscopic Surgery in animal models, and workshop in Point of Care Ultrasound.
