Theodore Gaeta, DO, MPH is Vice Chair of Academic Affairs and Residency Program Director in Emergency Medicine at New York – Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He also serves as Chief Research Officer for the institution and is an Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Gaeta earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, New York. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and holds a Master of Public Health from Columbia University. Dr. Gaeta has a longstanding commitment to global health and the advancement of emergency medicine systems internationally. He has served as a consultant for emergency medicine development in Slovenia and Grenada, and was the founding Chair of Emergency Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. He serves on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), where he holds leadership roles on the Academic Affairs and Research Committees. As a board member and long-standing examiner, he has played a key role in the development of procedural skills assessment for ABEM’s new Certifying Exam. Dr. Gaeta’s academic work focuses on innovation in medical education, with particular emphasis on competency-based education, assessment, and feedback, as well as advancing principles of adult learning in graduate medical education.
